Near the wetland patches, the pace slowed. Here, participants spotted the patient Indian Pond-Heron, blending perfectly into its surroundings, and the ever-active Common Sandpiper bobbing along the water’s edge. A solitary Grey-headed Swamphen became a special highlight, hinting at the richness of these microhabitats.
The trees offered their own treasures. The melodious call of the Asian Koel rang out, while flashes of green from Rose-ringed Parakeets animated the skyline. A White-cheeked Barbet called persistently, and the striking White-throated Kingfisher perched briefly, rewarding sharp-eyed observers. Throughout the walk, Smitha Pai enriched the experience with insights on bird behavior and habitats, making it both an educational and memorable outing for everyone involved.
